I would contest the grade. Its well written.
It isn't a 0. But, when you write papers or reviews etc, keep in mind who is grading them. What I'm about to say might piss some folks off but I don't care. When the person grading a paper on the college level is a woman, they tend to be feminist, and act like the world is about to end when they read someting they deem to be demeaning in any way...even though most of the time it isn't demeaning. In other words, they can't see past their own bias to objectively view a paper. I had that trouble with more than one at CVC..and if this film class was taken at MECC, I think I know who graded it..and that is par for the course for them as well. I'd contest it tho cuz as long as it meets objectives, it's not a failing paper.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
It's not just the women professors, it is 95% of the professors, they use the classroom as their bully pulpit and try and gain supporters for whatever their views are by bully tactics and threats of failing grades.

I only had this kind of trouble from women tho...I'd list the names but I don't want a fight over this. Regardless of who is grading it tho, if it meets objectives, it should pass regardless of how offensive the grader deems the paper...as long as it isn't filled with profanity. But, when they pound Freudian imagery into your head, and then show you a film and ask for a review, what the [censored] do they expect?? BTW the grader shuold be worrying more about the lack of indentation than the content...which I find to be a pretty good analysis of said imagery.

For the most part I write my papers based upon the views of the teacher. The only exception is when I know the teacher really well and know they wont grade you based on your views. There are some history teachers up there I just avoid all together, learned my lesson a couple years ago.

I would be worried about anyone grading a paper that cannot spell appropriate.

That is the best thing to do...I usually wrote it as if I needed to tell them what they wanted to hear. The problem is that some teachers use all these different forms of lit. criticism in class and then get pissed when you apply it yourself to different topics on papers/essays/etc...It's always been a load of [censored] and sadly, I guess it still hasn't ended. IMO, if they don't want you to apply it, they shouldn't encourage you by teaching it.

I am glad I dropped out of the college ranks, the school part of it was just not for me, the extracurricular activities on the other hand I was pretty damn good at, LOL.
The sad thing is about 90% of my friends that finished school and some that went on to get their masters degree still make less than I do. Not trying to boast just fact. Do I wish I would have finished school? Absolutely, but some of the degrees I see people getting now don't get you anywhere, you either have to go back to school for another 2 years or just take a job you could have got without an education.

Oh, just to clarify, this isnt MY paper. I just found it on a canes message board. I thought it was funny because of the subject matter but I thought it was pretty well written and had one hell of an analysis for that specific film clip that we know and love. Well we know Bob loves it at least
